Columbia Tartan Fest
TBA. Columbia, SC. Tartan Fest is a festival honoring the contributions of Scottish Americans to South Carolina and the nation. Family oriented cèilidh with storytelling, Scottish Country Dance, Highland Dance demonstrations, bagpiping, both English and Scottish Gaelic singers and instrumental music, workshops on genealogy, Scottish Gaelic, Celtic pottery, history of the kilt and tartans. In 2008 we will have our second solo piping and drumming and pipe band competition, the wonderful music of Ed Miller, John Taylor and Scooter Muse, highland dancing, and border collie demos. Friday night will kick everything off with a Ceilidh, Saturday we will have the games and demonstrations at Dillon Park, and Sunday we will have a kirkin' o' the tartan ceremony at Brick Church.
